A simple act like placing an expensive dog to a foster care can become a real hassle leading to a long-lasting nasty court battles.
But what is even more bizarre is that a thief can actually counter-sue you for the dog. This can happen in Canada only! Imagine that you are the legal owner of this dog (and there is no doubt about it - you have even the court ruling .... round 1) and this person just intentionally stole your dog and refusing to return it back.
Where is the argument? This person says "but I love the dog". Yes, you can love "this dog", but the dog is not yours! Got it? Of course not.
If you want your own dog, go and buy one! You can't possibly think that you will get an expensive dog for free, just because "you love the dog".
Oh well, lets say we've learned our lesson in a hard way and we will never go there again. Trust no one with your own dog!!!
So imagine... you win the court. This thief does not have anything legal to prove and support the case of the dog's ownership, but HEY what do you know? The court may rule in your favour... but do you think you actually really won? Yeah, that's what you may think.
You won, but you are still treated as the "bad one" by this malicious person. This person will be constantly bad mouthing you, modifying the truth and even the actual court ruling. This person will be trying to charge you for harassment and so forth for trying to get back something what always has been yours and ruled as legally yours. Don't waste your precious time by trying to be nice (to give this person a second chance) in front of the Judge. This won't do a thing for you!!!
Who can actually trust a person who swears on the Bible to tell the truth and still is lying under the oath?
So now the "Gloves go down" and we are going directly for the thing that has always been legally ours, but that we were "not allowed" to get since November 9, 2007.
Just for the record... the saying "Gloves go down" doesn't mean anything physical. Just mean don't be Mr. or Mrs. Nice anymore and go directly for the thing that is ... and always been legally yours!
And.. it's after April 16 already.
And there is A JUSTICE ON THE EARTH!!!
Oh yes, the sweet feeling of winning...
The "other party" (J.L. & L.L.) came with "new evidence against us" which will prove that they don't have to pay us a penny. They demanded to get this Dog for free!
What was the evidence? Oh well... the Dog got pretty sick and the "poor thieves" now have to face some medical bills... and now we should be responsible for the bills for the Dog they stole! (By their saying)
Ehm... but what the hell were they thinking? They steal and we're still responsible to cover the medical bills?
Not even [let's call him Uncle Bob] with his "lawyer expertise" would help them get the Dog without paying. After my statement and pile of evidences against these two they didn't even get a chance to talk... The result had to be really tough on these two ... judging by the long furious faces pushing back tears of disappointment and anger.
The result is as the judge said: PAY THEM AND PAY THEM FAST!
So... on May 9th 2008 we will be finally compensated for the long "lost" (stolen) Dog.
I was probably a very good on the stand because my husband received an offer for me to represent a couple, who was present in this court as their lawyer. Ha ha ha.
Even if the sweet offer of $150 per hour sound great, I gracefully refused it.
I still prefer to be a dog mama than a lawyer and deal with scumbs like these two in our story....

It is only April 20st and I just learn a new thing ... or two.
A Thief is trying to dictate you terms of sale for a stolen dog, isn't that interesting? Just imagine that... a Thief that is trying to outsmart a Judge (actually two Judges in two different courts and not for the fist time...) and the Thief has the guts to send you even their (so called) version for Bill of sale for the stolen dog.
So they can take advantage for this stolen dog, probably for the breeding purposes... hey, you have to get your money back somehow right? First (because they knew nothing about dogs) the dog got seriously ill and afterwards they are probably trying to breed this dog, just to make up on everything what they are about to loose thanks to the Judge's decision.
And so was May 9.. Third round, third K.O. for J.L. & L.L.
The "defendant" (the right name should be - the thief) was forced by the Court to pay for all those troubles.... and we have received a nice cheque... and by this act the story finally ended...
