PET FOOD DIET IDEAS

Each pet owner should understand that dogs need
a diet that consists of
40% meat, 30% vegetables and 30% starch.

Use a following simple rule:

PROTEIN
ANIMAL PROTEIN

Meat always should be lean. What is healthy for you, is healthy for your dog. Don't use any fatty parts what you don't want to eat yourself.

Ground Beef * Chicken * Turkey * Pork * Liver * Kidneys * Heart * Other meat source

Organ meat as livers, kidneys, heart etc. and eggs are very good for your dog. Meat should be always fully cooked and cut it into pieces (if needed) before serving.

Hard Boiled Eggs (up to 3 per adult dog)
(raw egg occasionally)

OTHER SOURCE OF PROTEIN

Cottage cheese * Tofu * Soybeans * Lentils
VEGETABLES
Carrots * Potatoes * Yams * Peas * Red kidney beans * Lentils * Soy beans (tofu) * Cabbage * Tomatoe * Mushroom * Garlic

You may know or not, but it is a natural flea remedy and garlic was also used for deworming purposes.

Choose about five vegetables from the list and chop them finely.
STARCH SOURCE
Cooked rolled oats * Cooked regular white rice * Cooked brown rice * Cooked potatoes (with skin) * Cooked pasta * Cooked black-eyed peas * Kidney beans
SUPPLEMENTS TO THE DIET

Give your dog a food variety. You will get tired of eating the same food all over again.
Change meat type or vegetables, you may skip a meat for a few days and feed your dog with
meat supplements or a veggie diet.

Rotate the foods you feed your dog so that the dog gets a variety of foods.

You may consider grinding eggshells and add them to your dog's meal.
Eggshells have a lot of nutrients.
Keep cooked dog food in the refrigerator no longer than three days.
